About
In summer of 2020, Cruz began the CASC procurement phase of the project, barging 23,500 tons of material from Nome to Utqiagvik, and constructed a 76 mile snow road from Utqiagvik to Atqasuk running parallel to the CWAT alignment. Cruz transported over 23,500 tons of aggregate material to the stockpile location in Atqasuk. During the summer of 2022, Cruz was responsible for procuring outside products, including 3,000 CY of E-1 and 1,200 CY of ditch lining, and worked with a gravel supplier in Seward, Alaska to produce these products. Both products were transported to Utqiagvik in a single trip of approximately 10,000 tons. The products were lightered to the beach in Utqiagvik by Cruz’s shallow-draft tug and barge. Starting in January 2023, Cruz constructed a snow trail from Utqiagvik to Atqasuk and transported 4,000 CY of E-1 and 1,400 CY of Ditch Lining, as well as 39 Loads of fuel and equipment to support operations for the summer. The summer of 2023 we resurfaced the Atqasuk airstrip, including replacement of the existing airport lighting.
