For the past decade, Cruz Construction has been the leading general contractor working year-round in Alaska to develop material sites, successfully advancing the development of 55 sites across the state. Cruz has extensive experience working in new and existing material sites within the greater Prudhoe Bay area, where we have been mining, crushing, loading, hauling, and placing gravel and rip-rap for over 30 years. Our expertise also extends to remote material site development utilizing marine access, and the extraction of materials through drill-and-shoot techniques in both the summer and challenging Alaskan winters. Our specialized mining techniques for Arctic conditions include the utilization of the largest D10 dozer fleet in the state for solar thawing methods, leading to efficient and effective site preparation. Additionally, owning and managing our own quarry has provided us invaluable firsthand knowledge of material development strategies, including the sourcing and placement of rip-rap for erosion control and other heavy-duty applications, further solidifying our leadership in the industry.

Cruz services both private and government clients, in addition to working with regulators and Native corporations to establish new material sources that benefit remote communities. Throughout our material source development, and prior to leaving the project, we take pride in our commitment to environmental responsibility. This includes constructing littoral zones along water bodies to enhance shoreline stability, while mitigating erosion and habitat disruption to local wildlife. We also contour slopes to stabilize surfaces and implement vegetation buffers and seeding. Whether remediating mine sites or developing new material sources, we prioritize mitigating environmental impact, following regulatory requirements, and responsible land stewardship.
