Shageluk Airport Access Road Improvements

Cruz’s Iron Patriot tugboat and Innoko barge initially landed on the bank of the Innoko River, where material was transported to the staging area upriver, approximately 6 miles from the village. At this material site, Cruz produced 9,461 cubic yards of surface course material for the road reconstruction, and barged it daily to the project location.

Kongiganak Airport Improvements

In the summer of 2023, Cruz began barging roughly 80,000 tons of subbase and 1,700 tons of sand from Platinum to a stockpile site located about 2 miles downriver from Kongiganak. The marine fleet was made up of 5 barges and 4 tugs. In the summer of 2024, a similar marine fleet was used to haul 78,800 tons of subbase from Platinum to the stockpile site, as well as 9,700 tons of E1.

Doyon Totchaket #1 Exploration

Cruz Marine was hired by Doyon in order to support their exploration program by providing full time transport services for personnel, equipment, and supplies. The Totchaket #1, was located near Nenana, yet across the Nenana River, therefore Cruz Marine utilized their shallow draft marine assets to support the project.

Caelus Exploration Support

In 2015, Cruz Marine, partnering with Cruz Construction, was selected to provide all marine services for the Smith Bay Exploration program. Cruz Marine provided 6 tugs and 5 barges to transport necessary exploration supplies and equipment from Prudhoe Bay to Point Lonely, Alaska. Following completion of the exploration program, Cruz Marine demobilized supplies and equipment back to Prudhoe.

Nuvagapak Environmental Cleanup

Cruz Marine was selected by Marsh Creek to assist with the transport of contaminated material out of the White Alice Nuvagapak cleanup site. This is one of the most challenging areas in Alaska for extracting assets via water due to the extremely shallow depths and extreme tides.
