Heavy Civil Projects

This CMGC project was awarded to Cruz in December of 2017. Throughout 2018, Cruz partnered with Northern Region AKDOT to help design and complete the construction package through the CMGC process. In April of 2019 Cruz started construction on this 12 mile section of the Tok Cutoff Highway.

This airport re-alignment project involved re-aligning the existing 3,800 LF RW to 4,200 LF. With no nearby gravel sources, Cruz pioneered and built and 3 mile access road to a nearby mountain where we opened up a 100 acre material site to provide over 700,000 Tons of aggregate for the project.

This 40 Mile section of the Dalton Highway was split into two projects. Cruz was awarded both projects, the first being in 2015, and the second in 2017. Cruz opened up four separate pits, mining over 4 million tons of gravel in order complete these projects ahead of schedule and under budget.

This two year construction project entailed constructing a new 33 mile road that connected the villages of Manley Hot Springs and the village of Tanana. Not only did Cruz construct 33 miles of road, but we also installed a Bulb Tee Bridge and multiple structural plate pipes for drainage. This was the first new road in Alaska in over 50 years.

This unique project involved clearing 26 acres, 85,000 cubic yards of excavation, 105,000 cubic yards of Borrow, 2 mile of pioneered road, parking lot, 32 campsites, orientation kiosk, and toilet facilities. The primary objective involved construction and opening of a new campground facility for traveling Alaskans and tourists.

The purpose of this project was to install two submarine cables 3.2 miles between Anchorage and Fire Island as part of the Fire Island Wind project. The cables were to be installed a minimum of ten feet apart and to a minimum depth of 5 feet.

This project involved replacing deep culverts on the both the Parks Highway and Richardson Highway, Alaska’s busiest highways. These pipes each had unique challenges regarding their size and depth. Cruz completed this project during the summer of 2013 ahead of schedule and under budget.

The Grayling Airport Improvements project consisted of replacing the existing 2,800 linear foot runway with a new 4,600 linear foot runway in the Yukon River village of Grayling, AK. This work includes construction of the 4,600’ by 150’ runway, the 325’ by 120’ taxiway, the 350’ by 450’ parking apron, the 1150’ by 24’ access road, and the new lighting system.

The Palmer Municipal Airport Project was a single season runway rehabilitation project in Palmer, Alaska This project included 66,970 cubic yards of excavation, 77,200 tons of borrow, 12,000 tons of leveling course, 14,000 square yards of recycled asphalt material, 32,890 square yards of removal of existing pavement, and 6,320 tons of asphalt concrete.
